The Best Mother’s Day in GlasgowBy Lara Messer
Mother’s day is my chance to thank my lovely Mum for all the things she does for me. My mum and I spend a lot of time together; she has taught me how to bake and cook, sew, crochet and overall how to be a homemaker. If you’re looking for a spontaneous weekend getaway from London, then look no further than Glasgow – with a whole host of amazing vintage boutiques, cute cafes and beautiful gardens, it’s got a huge amount to offer
A (large) slice of cake, a field of flowers and some shopping in two of the Glasgow’s most beautiful stores, this is my guide to perfect way to spend Mother’s Day in this fair city:
If you love loose leaf tea, home-baking and pastels, Cushion and Cake is a beautiful tearoom to visit. Pamela, the bubbly owner of C&C, loves everything vintage. Her collection of eclectic furniture, which she hand-painted herself, tea sets and dressers are dotted around the shop, giving a wonderfully homey vibe.
Settle down for afternoon tea with Mum, in an up-cycled parker knoll chair whilst listening to a pleasant mix of 50’s music or reading the latest Mollie Makes magazine – a selection of finger sandwiches, scones with jam, cakes and a pot of tea each for £25 per couple. Neatly displayed on a vintage floral cake stand. An inspiring place to relax this Mother’s day!

You instantly feel at home within the beautiful shop where the friendly and attentive staff will help you find the perfect gift. There are presents for everyone from quirky jewellery to retro napkin holders and in a range of affordable prices.
Elephant teapots, lucky cat milk jugs, ceramic rabbits and hens, hedgehog wall art and a wagging tail dashund clock – there is a definitely an animal theme to explore and what could be more appealing? As a fervent animal lover, my greed for cat and dog print has finally been quelled! Pop in with Mum and load up your basket with charming homey gifts.

The Roots, Fruits and Flowers collection are some of the most enchanting shops in Glasgow. Their outer frontage alone is enough to have me skipping through their doors. Perfect for Mother’s day, we are focussing on the flower shop, located in the Great Western Road cluster.
The shop is brimming with spring blooms including some friendly faces we haven’t seen for a while like the pom-pom peony, hydrangea and ranunculus flower. The smell of fresh flowers and even potted herbs is mixing in air while you choose your bouquet of choice or even little succulents. A beautiful shop with an extraordinary assemblage of blooms, helpful and experienced florists and a pretty place to be this Sunday.

There is nothing fresher or more enjoyable in the Spring sunshine than visiting a Botanical Garden. Grab a take-away coffee from the police box coffee shop at the garden’s gates and stroll on up to the Glasshouses. You may be followed by chirping sparrows and hungry squirrels, but that’s part of the charm!
Happily humid and cosy inside, the greenhouses are flooding with beautiful light, blooms and exotic plants – making you feel like you are in a different continent for the weekend.
The garden’s are free to visit, open all year round and has it’s own tea room too. Located in the heart of the trendy West End area of Glasgow.

Melle Cloche is our very own Bridal boutique in Glasgow. Selling everything but the dress, Lisa and Jacqueline have carefully curated a selection of the finest accessories you could ask for.
The shop is exquisitely decorated with floral wallpaper, French market furniture finds and chic feather shrugs. Everything is glowing with loveliness that you could really spend your whole Mothers day swooning over it’s elegance – especially their delightful vintage hair combs! One of my favourite shops in Glasgow.
