1. Granary Square Brasserie – King’s Cross’ hottest all-day dining destination, has shaken up its cocktail menu with the launch of three new signature serves. The first – and most magical – cocktail on offer, Platform 9 ¾ is a feast for the senses. This gin-based potion changes from blue, purple to pink thanks to Yumchaa blue tea, citric acid and Crème de Bergamot. There’s also the Kentish Belle – a pretty pink cocktail, brimming with Manzanilla Sherry, Pisco, wild strawberry liquor, lemon juice and topped with a raspberry and tarragon foam and mini ice cream cone, evokes flavours of summer by the seaside. And finally the Passion of St Pancras, a rum-based concoction inspired by the area’s international trading history that brought exotic ingredients to London. Mixed with tropical passionfruit syrup, Havana Club rum and pineapple shrub – delicious stuff.
2. Ritorno. To mark the occasion of the 2018 wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Italian restaurant and bar Ritorno will be serving a collection of regal cocktails, which will be available from April 3rd until May 19th. The Right Royal Cocktail List includes The Prince & The Showgirl – fusing Harry’s preference for vodka with Meghan’s preferred nightcap of a Negroni and Organic Duchy Martini – an homage to father-of-the-groom Prince Charles’s love of all things organic and his delicious Duchy biscuits, Frangelico and chocolate bring biscuity notes to organic vodka.
3. It’s Fairtrade Fortnight! From 26th February to 11th March the St James Bar at the Sofitel London St James have partnered with FAIR to support the farmers and workers who grow our food. St James Bar are donating £1 per cocktail to the Fairtrade Foundation. Come on in and help them raise funds with signature cocktails: Espresso Martini and Rhea.
4. Sapling coming soon to Dalston. Dalston has become synonymous with food & drink – the area is now home to an impressive mix of great cocktail bars, historic pubs and restaurants old and new. Sapling, a new wine-focused restaurant and larder will join the community on Kingsland Road, with reservations open from Thursday 15th March. Hailing from Scotland, founder Bob Ritchie grew up on an open-pasture dairy and beef farm in Ayrshire, where he inherently fell in love with the seasons and the bounty that came with them. The new wine-driven restaurant will feature a weekly changing focus list of around 36 wines, including a number of grower Champagnes and other notable sparkling wines. To complement the bespoke wine list, Head Chef Jon Beeharry has created a seasonal menu designed to match the broad range of wines available – in contrast to the traditional role that places wine as an accompaniment to food.
