About Time: You Ate a Michelin-Starred Lunch at KERBBy Angelica Malin
Sack off that naff supermarket sandwich, ditch your lunchbox left overs, and make a beeline for KERB at King’s Cross this week for, quite possibly, the best lunch you’ve ever consumed. KERB are pulling out all the stops for this one – and it’s about time you checked out what all the fuss is about. Here’s what you need to know:
KERB x Hawker Chan: The Lowdown
On Wednesday (14th March) to Friday (16th March), street food trailblazers KERB will be hosting the world’s first Michelin-starred street food trader at their King’s Cross Market, in collaboration with Singapore Airlines and Singapore Tourism Board. Hawker Chan (Chan Hong Men) will be flying in from Singapore to serve up his signature Soya Sauce Chicken and Rice to Londoners for just £6 at KERB King’s Cross lunch market from Wed-Fri 12-2pm. For more information, visit here.
KERB x Hawker Chan: What to Expect
The cheapest Michelin-starred lunch to be found in London, only 200 portions will be served up each day at just £6 a plate. The burning question – will it be better than a Bian Dang Taiwanese Beast Box or Makatcha Malaysian rendang curry? At KERB King’s Cross, there will also be a competition to win a trip to visit Hawker Chan’s original spot in Singapore courtesy of Singapore Airlines.
Based in Singapore (the land of the original street food hawkers), Hawker Chan, in 2016, became the first street food trader to achieve a Michelin star. Growing up on a farm and helping his parents with the cooking he left school at 15 to follow his dream of becoming a chef.
