4. For Charitable Events: Social Sunday
What: After three successful years and over £100,000 raised, Jason Atherton’s Social Sunday returns on Sunday (1st July) to unite some of the nation’s best and most respected chefs to raise money for the charity Hospitality Action. Atherton, the principle patron of the charity, and his chefs at six Social Company restaurants will each welcome a top UK chef to create a bespoke and one-off lunch menu with all proceeds raised going to Hospitality Action.
Why: At the group’s flagship restaurant, Pollen Street Social, Jason Atherton will be cooking alongside his Head Chef, Dale Bainbridge and acclaimed chef Tom Aikens of Tom’s Kitchen and chef patron of Michelin-starred Restaurant Story, Tom Sellers – a former protégé of Aikens. 5. For a Journalism Workshop: About Time Magazine
What: Nice little plug for our own event here…but we’re hosting a special ‘How to Break in Journalism’ masterclass on Sunday (1st July) at Work Life, Camden. We don’t believe journalism should only be open for established journalists – and we think you should be able to try out different career paths before settling. Lifestyle journalism can feel like a closed club, the table of the cool girls at lunch you’re not invited to join, and we say it’s about time that changed.
Why: As well as lots of new friends and contacts, a few of the skills you’ll take away from the day: how to think creatively around editorial themes; how to pitch publications and editors; how to use social media effectively to boost your content; how to make your blog shine; and how to decide on your content structure. Guest speakers include our very own Editor-in-Chief, Angelica Malin, Assistant Editor at the Sunday Times, Ellie Austin, and Senior Commissioning Editor at Culture Trip, Lily Niu.
Price: From £20. Grab tickets here.
Where: 13 Hawley Cres, Camden Town, London NW1 8NP
