Top 5: Juice Cleanses in LondonBy Kathleen Fleming
It is safe to say that green juices are pretty popular in January. Drinking your salad for breakfast is fairly intense stuff and some take it even further by downing bottles of green goodness instead of eating anything for between 1 and 7 days (yes, a whole week of no food!). But let’s face it, juicing is a faff – all that prep and all that cleaning up is not always convenient for the time-poor. Plus juicers take up a lot of space in small London kitchens. Thankfully for those who like to cleanse with juice at this time of year (new year, new you etc), London has a plethora of juice cleanse companies who will deliver bottles of fresh, cold-pressed, organic juices and nut “mylks” to your front door or office. Here are our juicy top 5:
#1 For Price: Botanic Lab
What: January is generally a time of year when we aren’t too flush with cash. So as much as we desperately want to do a juice cleanse, many of the juice delivery services are beyond January’s budget. But enter Botanic Lab who can make your January detox dreams come true. At £100 for a three day cleanse this seems a little good to be true (are they watering down their greens?). It isn’t. The service is great, the juices are organic and fresh, low in sugar and delicious. Plus you can add in a bottle of their revolutionary black isotonic drink made from activated charcoal, which apparently is a digestive purifier – who knew?

#2 For Lifestyle Overhaul: Plenish Cleanse
What: One of the originals and still one of the best, Plenish provides a full-service package from pre-cleanse guidance to post-cleanse packages. Their nutrition packages are perfect for those who are looking for a full lifestyle overhaul. The “Ultimate Commitment” includes consultations with the Plenish in-house nutritionist, a personalised nutrition plan and a five day juice cleanse. This is not just a quick fix but a long term lifestyle change and maintenance plan.

#3 For Low Sugar Option: Raw & Juicy
New kid on the block, Raw and Juicy have launched with a mega green cleanse which has no fruit juices added other than lemon, lime and grapefruit. The mantra of some detoxers is to go hard or go home and if you are going to cleanse properly, even naturally occuring sugars should be reduced. It sounds intense but a few days of the strong stuff will probably leave you with a seriously gorgeous glow and a much flatter tummy. The cleanse also includes nut mylks and a protein drinks for those who workout so you consume just as much as with other cleanses.

#4 For DIY Cleanse: Imbibery
What: Often seen in the hands of celebrities, Imbibery juices have a bit of a cult following. These are the en vogue juices and the best thing is that you can design your own cleanse. It is a little bit like a healthy pick and mix, albeit a pricey one, where you can select 5 juices, a “mylk” and two shots (obviously not of the alcoholic kind). There is even the option to choose a chocolate “mylk” which might make three days of not eating more bearable.
How much: approximately £250 for 3 days – here
#5 For Try Before You Buy: Lab Organic
What: When spending a few hundred pounds on juice, you might want to try before you buy. Although a lot of juice delivery companies now supply health stores, Lab Organic actually has its own Central London store. The staff are friendly and well informed and can explain in detail how their cleanses work. And if you want to make damn sure you aren’t going to gag on each green juice sip, all of their juices and “mylks” are sold separately in the store (wasting a fiver is far less galling than £250!).
