5 Things You Need to Eat This Week in LondonBy Alicia Grimshaw
Menu stalking is our addiction. We know exactly what we want before we’ve even made it to the restaurant (time well spent, no?). If you fancy planning out your meals, here’s what’s new and delicious to eat in the capital this week. Man, we love a burger:
1. For a New Collaboration: Bone Daddies x Nagi Ramen
What: Renowned Japanese ramen bar franchise, Nagi Ramen have taken over Bone Daddies St Christopher’s Place until 13th September, serving a one-off, limited edition ramen, which is available at all Bone Daddies sites until the end of the month.
Why: Nagi Ramen became the first in the world to serve a different type of ramen everyday for 365 days of the year. In a very short time, the restaurant became so popular that queues circled round the block every day of the week. Word spread, and the ramen bar went from being a small, ramen-lovers paradise, to an internationally recognised destination restaurant (29 ramen bars in Japan and overseas).

2. For a New Opening: Farmer J
What: Known for bringing the best of the fields to the City, Farmer J have opened their first all-day restaurant in London Bridge, with dishes influenced by the Mediterranean and beyond.
Why: Farmer J Fieldtrays and Redemption Roaster speciality coffees kick things off for early risers and continue throughout the day for lunch. Small plates lend themselves to a quick bite at the bar or individual starters such as green chermoula chicken skewers and laffa bags for dipping into the signature chilli plate. More substantial dishes include grilled lime leaf prawns, roast beef with tomato tartare, and whole roasted celeriac, with other options from the field including freekeh herb salad with goat’s yoghurt, roast beets with crème fraiche, and the ultimate Veggie burger.

3. For a New Dish: Claw x Mac & Wild
What: Never before has CLAW snapped up the opportunity to collaborate with another restaurant…until now. When they met with Scottish restaurant, Mac & Wild, they realised they shared the same passion for British produce and provenance. The result? An epic mash up of both their favourite British ingredients mixed into one exciting dish. Welcome, The Wild Claw.
Why: In true collaborative style, Mac & Wild have paired their acclaimed Scottish wild venison with CLAW’s renowned Salcombe lobster to create a gourmet hot dog using ingredients from one end of the Isle to the other. Featuring the UK’s most traceable Scottish venison sausage, topped with lobster and spicy Szechuan chilli, encased in one of CLAW’s signature brioche rolls, this hot dog is available until the end of the month. Miss it, miss out.

4. For a New Residency: King & Co x Up in My Grill
What: The King & Co have welcomed street-food star Up In My Grill for a new two month kitchen residency. Running six days per week until Saturday 3rd November, the extended pop-up showcases the trader’s signature rare-breed Yorkshire beef burgers alongside an array of sharing plates.
Why: Enjoy new sharers and snacks such as crispy lamb belly with green sauce; aubergine parm “mess” with grilled bread; and short rib with sweet pickles and steak sauce, as well as their popular beef shin nuggets with shallot mayo. Their trademark burger patties are minced daily from the same high-quality rare-breed Yorkshire beef as their infamous street-food steaks, with toppings ranging from a classic cheeseburger to the bacon chilli burger.
Where: 100 Clapham Park Road, London, SW4 7BZ
5. For a New Pop-Up: Boxpark Croydon x Smokey Tails
What: Smokey Tails are hosting a one-month pop-up kitchen at Boxpark Croydon, serving up authentic home-style BBQ cooking. The ‘Beats & Eat’s pop-up – first created by Michigan born DJ and producer, Seth Troxler – has become well-known for its rich, authentic home-style BBQ flavours, inspired by a three generation old recipe book.
Why: The recipe is simple: dirty, delicious, finger-licking food derived from and inspired by Seth’s three-generation old family recipe book, saving up modern Midwestern cuisine and offering a new world of fresh and honest grub. Think mac n’ cheese, fried chicken French toast mash-up (hubba), burgers topped with housemate condiments, and deep-fried pickles.
