There’s so many new foodie treats on offer in London this July; burgers (and vegan burgers), new fancy eateries, the rise of ‘frango’ in London, and if that’s no enough, German sausages. Here’s 5 things you need to eat in the capital this week and why…

1. For a New Menu: ICHIBUNS

What: ICHIBUNS has launched a new menu consisting of hot dishes from Brendan Fong, formerly Head Chef at Sydney’s acclaimed Mr Wong, and a cold ICHI-style sushi selection from third generation sushi master Endo Kazutoshi.

Why: Joining the famous cheeseburger harumaki on the bites menu is the new dynamite shrimp coated in spicy sauce and lime, served with wasabi mayo. The signature ICHIBUN Burger – made with 100% British 30 day aged Wagyu beef – is served with caramelised onion, American cheese and ICHI-burger sauce, served on a unique house-made sake yeast bun and heads up the new, streamlined burger selection, beside Grandma’s matzo-meal crusted fish fillet burger and the veggie burger; Brendan’s homage to the vegetarian ‘Dude Food’ movement made with a tempura vegetable patty, miso braised mushroom, lettuce and yuzu kosho aioli.

2. For a New Site: Stokey Bears

What: Stokey Bears has opened its second site in Haggerston! Following on from the Stoke Newington original, the new site features the classic Stokey Bears line up of burgers, beats, and booze, including a new vegan menu, exclusive to the new site.

Why: The menu features all the signature items that have made the Stoke Newington original one of the neighbourhood’s favourite burger hang outs, including the show-stopping Grizzly Bear topped with double oak-smoked bacon and bacon jam; the classic Burger Bear cheese burger; the Angry Bear, doused in the Rib Man’s Holy F**K hot sauce and helluvapino relish; and, finally – not for the faint hearted – the Triple Threat, which combines all three into one epic stacked burger. All Stokey Bears’ beef burgers are made fresh from 100% grass-fed Sussex beef courtesy of Flock and Herd butchers in Peckham.

Main courses – a comforting fish stew, or confit pork belly with smoked quince and brill and devilled crab – complement daily specials.
