5 Things You Need to Eat in London This WeekBy Alicia Grimshaw
From a new Middle Eastern breakfast menu to a one of London’s hottest new openings – here’s 5 things you need to eat in the capital this week. Tuck in:
1. For a New Menu: Victory Mansion
What: Wonderfully quirky restaurant/bar Victory Mansion has launched a new ‘Ta-ko’ menu. Originally known for their Middle Eastern-style small plates, new Head Chef Tim Yates has switched things up with a brand new menu packed full of tasty tacos with Asian-inspired fillings.
Why: Handmade 12cm soft corn tortillas are topped with the flavours of Thailand, Korea and Vietnam and include palm sugar glazed beef short rib, pickled watermelon, quail’s egg and wild blackberry sriracha; nahm jim chicken, liver pate, pickles, crispy onion and kampot pepper mayo; and crispy cauliflower, black bean and tamarind ragu, avocado and pepper mayo. Definitely don’t overlook the sides, the ‘MSG’ fries are just as addictive as they sound. Based on an Australian speciality – potato scallops, thick slices of potato are coated in a crisp nori batter before being deep-fried and served with chicken salt and kampot pepper mayo.

Breakfast will be served from 8am until 4pm, and Executive Chef Hus Vedat has put together an exciting new menu based on his favourite Istanbul-inspired dishes as well as playful takes on classics and some delicious new sandwiches.
Why: The menu will include: the breakfast platter with pastirma, olives, beyaz peynir, fig, jam, rokka, kasar cheese, tomato and cucumber salad, served with toasted freekeh bread; Menemen, two scrambled eggs on slow cooked tomato and green peppers; Sucuk Hash with poached egg, muhammara and spicy beef sausage hash; Hellim Ekmek, a sandwich of halloumi, mushroom, garlic, lemon and olives; and Avoganoush – a Middle Eastern take on avocado on toast.

What: As the winter nights draw in, the only thing Temakinho is wrapping up is the Roll Saboroso on their new winter menu. Available now, the menu features Nikkei-Brazilian cooked dishes and soups designed to warm Londoners during the cooler months.
Why: Embracing Temakinho’s dedication to sustainability, expect a selection of new petiscos (Brazilian nibbles and snacks) inspired by famous Brazilian dishes. From the Pastel do Dia, a savoury fried empanada filled with tomato, turmeric and fish served with a tropical sauce of green apple, parsley and chilli pepper, to the Roll Saboroso with black rice and asparagus, kanpyō, chicory, roasted aubergine and Japanese yuzu. Because nothing beats a warming bowl of soup on a cold winter’s day, the new menu also features the Lula Baiana. Inspired by the famous Bobó de Camarão from Salvador de Bahia, the dish is made with shrimps, coconut milk, cashew nuts, tomato, coriander, lime and a pinch of black pepper.

5. For a New Opening: The Prince
What: Never before has an entire street been transformed into an epicurean avenue dedicated to some of London’s most exciting food, drink and social experiences, until now. Welcome, The Prince. Opening on Wednesday (15th November), and taking the former Prince of Wales pub and four disused connecting buildings on West Brompton Crossing; the team behind Pergola On The Roof and Pergola Paddington Central will revitalise this corner of West London to create a truly unique collection of spaces encompassing two bars, four individual restaurants, and a huge secret garden
Why: Converting each of the buildings into four individual restaurants, The Prince will welcome burger legends Patty & Bun, a west-London debut for The Begging Bowl as well as Rabbit, and Vietnamese barbecue restaurant MAM. Found only through a small door at the back of each restaurant and the pub, the secret garden will begin with a top deck that will lead down into the enchanting garden where an outside bar will be wrapped around a vast twisted willow, and in the winter months the garden will be fully covered and heated.
