About Time x Shorts on TapBy Filippo Polesel
About Time. are pleased to announce a partnership with Shorts on Tap. We will be showcasing the best of London’s short films coming out of their monthly events as well as hosting an About Time event of our own in May. Shorts on Tap’s founder Filippo Polesel is here to tell us a little more about his project:
I started Shorts On Tap as a new platform for filmmakers to showcase their work in an informal, friendly environment among like-minded people. The monthly screening events have seen a rapid growth in audience numbers which pushed S.O.T. to move from a 100-people capacity basement room to a venue triple the size in only 6 months.
Our inaugural event ‘Measure of the Senses’ back in November 2013 saw Shorts On Tap’s first collaboration with About Time’s Film Editor Cass Horowitz who kindly accepted our invitation to taking part in our first Jury panel alongside film blogger Tim Brandon and DOP Evgeny Sinelnikov.
Debate, exchange and dialogue is at the very core of our experience: each monthly screening revolves around a central topic, a theme that gets discussed and approached by the audience and the film-makers alike via the works presented. Therefore the short films go beyond mere entertainment, becoming a means of interaction and a trigger for debate.
Our next event is on May 7th at Cafe 1001, Brick Lane. The event marks Shorts On Tap’s move to its new home in Shoreditch and it’s free entry. The famous 250-capacity venue is located at the very heart of the East End and represents a magnet to the East London creative community. It’s all very exciting – watch this space.
Shorts on Tap’s opening at Cafe 1001 is in collaboration with About Time’s female empowerment month: the event will be showcasing the 3 best films from Women In Charge and will feature in our Discover section.
