Top 4: Valentine’s Day Ideas For a Long-Distance RelationshipBy Angelica Malin
Despite what people say about long-distance relationships, they can be just as fulfilling and beautiful as any other relationship. In fact, if you do it right, all the little things that would soon be taken for granted in an average relationship will remain special, right down to just hearing your significant other’s voice.
Since Valentine’s Day is approaching, we thought we’d take a look at how our long-distance lovers may want to spend their day. After all, if you can’t see them on February 14, at least you can still let them know how much they mean to you.
Be Unique
Just because your significant other lives far away from you doesn’t mean you have to send them the same gifts you would send a distant aunt. This year, forget the clichés and instead pick a special Valentine’s gift for her or give them something they truly want. A t-shirt with your favourite band on, snuggly pyjamas, a handwritten love letter, a mixtape or something else that will let them know you’ve thought long and hard about what to get them. Anyone can send an e-card, but only you can send something truly special.
Organise an eDate
These days, it’s hard to consider yourself in a long-distance relationship at all as you just need to log on to the internet to see each other. It’s not like the old days where couples corresponded through around six letters per year, now you can go on Skype dates, chat on Facebook or connect on Google Hangouts as often as you can. This Valentine’s Day, set up an eDate, order or cook your favourite food and put some music on. The rest is up to you.
Try A Movie Marathon
If you’d rather kick back and relax with your sweetheart this Valentine’s Day, why not have a movie marathon? Sure, you may be miles apart but you still have access to each other and the same movies. Click ‘play’ at the same time and you’ll be able to chat to each other, laugh together and even talk each other through sad movie moments on the phone or online.
Plan Ahead
You may not be seeing each other on February 14, but there’s no doubt that you will see each other again, soon hopefully. Instead of getting down about being apart on the most romantic night of the year, spend that time to plan your very own, unique, exclusive night for when you both meet again. Not only will your night be far more special, you’ll also be able to go to dinner without having to book a table or anything.
We love Valentine’s Day, and we want you to have the best time this year even if you are millions of miles apart. So, whether you’re going to indulge in a long-distance dinner date or you plan to plan ahead, let us know how you will be spending Valentine’s Day 2017.
