Life’s too short to stay in; there’s tons of fantastic events in London this week, if you only know where to look. Here’s 5 events in the capital you can’t miss this week:
1. For a Literary Soiree: Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction
What: This Tuesday (7th June) sees the return of the popular Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction shortlist readings. Hosted for the first time at Cadogan Hall from 6.30pm, and in partnership with Waterstones on the eve of the much-anticipated announcement of the 2016 Baileys Prize winner, the event sees this year’s shortlisted authors reading and discussing their work with Margaret Mountford, chair of the 2016 Baileys Prize judges.
Why: The 2016 shortlist is Cynthia Bond for Ruby, Anne Enright for The Green Road, Lisa McInerney for The Glorious Heresies, Elizabeth McKenzie for The Portable Veblen, Hannah Rothschild for The Improbability of Love and Hanya Yanagihara for A Little Life. Now in its twenty first year, the Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction, the UK’s most prestigious annual book award for fiction written by a woman, was set up to celebrate excellence, originality and accessibility in writing by women throughout the world.

2. For Wine and More Wine: Campo Viejo’s Lake of Colour
What: Fancy blending your own wine? Like live music? Enjoy tapas? All on a floating bar? Then a visit to Campo Viejo’s Lake of Colour is a must this June. Makers of the UK’s favourite Spanish wine, Campo Viejo, are rocking into town in style with a brand new event, open for four days only. If you miss this, you’re missing out – big time.
Why: Set on a floating bar in Clapham Common, Campo Viejo’s Lake of Colour will be the winery’s home away from home where visitors will be immersed in all things Rioja. You’ll be transported to Campo Viejo’s colourful home, taking in the sights, sounds and most importantly tastes of Campo Viejo as you enjoy wine blending, tapas eating and live music. The event kicks off on Thursday (9th) and finishes on Sunday (12th).

3. For Free Fitness: Odlo x The Running Bug
What: Grab your trainers and your snazzy activewear and join London’s hottest summer running club, while taking in London’s iconic scenery. Global sportswear brand Odlo have teamed up with The Running Bug to create a fantastic new run club in central London just in time for summer.
Why: There will be 12 runs taken by expert running coaches with a group for beginners and intermediates starting at Snow + Rock in Covent Garden. The Running Bug coaches will be on hand throughout each run to offer tips, guidance, and feedback on your running while you take in the stunning London surroundings. The first run will be this Wednesday (8th June) at 7.00pm, and each week on a Wednesday at the same time all the way through the summer with the last run club on August 17th

4. For a Drinking Experience: Wine & Spirit Education Trust x Mark’s Bar
What: This year, the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) are working alongside three top London bars to create a series of immersive experiences that each focus on a different spirit. Mark’s Bar at Hixter Bankside, Punch Room at The London EDITION and Showdown at Lockhart will host experiences providing a sneak peek into the leading wine and spirit education body’s Spirits courses.
Why: Kicking off this month, From Still to Bar will spend a month at Mark’s Bar focusing on rum. Any drinkers that choose to take part in the experience will be asked to don a pair of headphones so WSET Spirits Educator, Will Lowe, can guide them through tasting a flight of the corresponding spirit, whilst pointing out what to look for and the key differences between each. 5. For a Discussion: Sky Box Sets Club
What: If you love talking about Box Sets, look no further. Sky Box Sets Club are throwing an evening event featuring a host of celebrities and leading entertainment experts to relive and discuss those addictively good box set moments from three popular shows – Game of Thrones, Billions and The Affair.
Why: The event takes place on Wednesday (8th) and starts at 7:15pm with a panel discussion on ‘why box sets are so addictive’ with Rose Leslie and Alex Zane. Rounding off the evening will be a Q&A, where Alex Zane will be putting your Box Set questions to former Game of Thrones star Rose Leslie, TV Columnist Kevin O’Sullivan and TV Psychologist Emma Kenny. Canapés and drinks will also be served to keep the hunger pangs at bay.
